OAKLAND, CA – A shooting at a gas station in Oakland left one person dead and seven others wounded Monday night in the San Francisco Bay Area, police said.
Officers were dispatched to the scene on MacArthur Boulevard just after 6 p.m. and learned that a shooting had occurred between several people, police said in a statement.
Officers found shell casings at the Valero gas station, but there were no injuries. However, dispatchers learned that several victims with gunshot wounds were taken to local hospitals.
One person died in hospital and the others are in stable condition, police said.
No arrests have been made, and no other details have been released.
According to a photo of shell casings that appeared in the East Bay Times, at least 19 shots were fired.
The shooting came just hours after a gunman killed seven people at two locations on the outskirts of Half Moon Bay. Officers arrested the suspect, 67-year-old Chunli Zhao, after finding him in a car in the parking lot of a sheriff’s substation, San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus said.
Half Moon Bay is located 24 miles (38 kilometers) southwest of Oakland and about 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of San Francisco.
