MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (WABC) — A 15-year-old girl who pleaded guilty to killing a 16-year-old cheerleader in Mount Vernon was sentenced Tuesday.
The Westchester County District Attorney announced that the 15-year-old girl, who has not been identified because of her age, was sentenced to three to nine years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter in April 2022. year. year old Kayla Green.
“The teenage defendant senselessly took Kayla Green’s life and left the community devastated,” said Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocca.
Green was the captain of the British team and was celebrating the victory of the university basketball team in a citywide parade on April 8 when she was stabbed.
Green was also a novice doctor. She was remembered by friends and loved ones as a happy girl who was always smiling.
