PORT LABELLE
Two people were killed in a crash Saturday night on SR-80 in Port La Belle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old man with a 59-year-old woman as a passenger, both of LaBelle, was stopped at a stop sign on northbound Birchwood Parkway at the intersection of SR-80 around 19 :40 a.m. A pickup driven by a 36-year-old man with two other passengers, all from Miami, was westbound on SR-80.
The LaBelle man failed to yield to traffic on SR-80 and the pickup truck rear-ended his car. The car spun and came to rest on the northbound shoulder of SR-80. A man and a woman in the car died on the spot.
The accident remains under investigation.
