2 people injured in a house fire on Mulberry Street in Yonkers

YONKERS, N.Y. (WABC) — Two people were pulled from a fast-moving house fire in Yonkers on Thursday.

Yonkers Fire and Police were on the scene of the fire, which started around 4:20 p.m. in a four-story apartment building located at 21 Mulberry Street.

Officials say two people were pulled from the fire and taken to local hospitals. A 68-year-old man is in a serious condition, an 85-year-old woman is in a stable condition.

They say both victims lived on the fourth floor.

Additional residents of the building were moved to nearby Westchester School, where they are being cared for by the Red Cross and other emergency personnel.

Firefighters were working on the outside of the building, which had stood for more than 100 years. The fire broke out in the hautura, which was located at the top, behind the building.

There are no reports of injured firefighters.

How the fire started is still unclear. An investigation into the cause is underway.

Passengers were advised to avoid the area.
