JERSEY CITY, N.J. (WABC) — Firefighters battled a blaze in Jersey City early Thursday morning.

The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. at a home on Garfield Avenue and spread to at least two others.

One person who managed to escape the flames told Eyewitness News.

“I looked out the window and it was just a giant wall of flames,” Patrick Gillian said. “It was right in front of my face.”

Jillian was able to escape on her own. Firefighters managed to save his cat.

Two more residents were treated for injuries.

There were no reports of the cause of the fire.
