The school district said the lockdown was quickly lifted and said it was triggered when a student ran away from school resource officers. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of suspicious activity and subsequently arrested a student for having a weapon on campus.

And more on Fort Myers High School, a sixth grade girl was detained. Fort Myers police said she posted a threat on Instagram saying, “Let Mr. Terrence go or I’ll shoot the school IDC.”

The girl admitted to the threat, but said it was just a joke.

A DeSoto Middle student was also arrested Tuesday. The district said a student reported a possible weapon on campus. During correction, a toy gun was found in the student’s possession.

All three students face disciplinary action at the school, as well as criminal charges.
