4 firefighters among 9 injured in Ridgewood, Queens apartment building fire

RIDGEWOOD, Queens (WABC) — Four firefighters were among nine people injured in a fire at an apartment building in Queens early Saturday morning.

Shortly before 5:30 a.m., flames broke out in a three-story building on Gates Avenue in Ridgewood.

The fire spread to a nearby building before firefighters were finally able to extinguish the flames.

Four civilians and four firefighters were taken to the hospital, and the fifth civilian refused medical attention.

All of them suffered minor injuries.

Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
