NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (WABC) — Nine thousand Rutgers University employees now have a new contract.

Unions representing those 9,000 educators, researchers, clinicians and librarians voted overwhelmingly to ratify the deal.

It gives salary increases to full-time, adjunct and graduate students.

Contracts are valid until the end of June 20-26. Union leaders praised the ratification, calling it “testament to all our efforts.”

That ended bitter negotiations that included the school’s first-ever strike.
