A 16-year-old boy was arrested in Fort Myers on Monday after police said he was found in possession of child pornography.
According to the Fort Myers Police Department, on January 5, members of the teenager’s family notified officers about the possibility of distributing child pornography. Detectives obtained the necessary search warrants to complete the investigation, which involved the social media app WhatsApp.
Following an investigation, the 16-year-old was charged with nine counts of possession of obscene material and nine counts of indecent communication. He was taken into custody without incident and remains in the Lee County Jail.
