A heartbroken mother lost her 13-year-old son in a car accident in Karam

CORAM, County Suffolk – A teenage boy died after he and his sister were hit by a hit-and-run driver in Suffolk County on Wednesday.

According to police, Tyler Phillips and Crystal Randolph were walking home at 7:25 p.m. from Granny Park in Karam when they were struck by an unknown vehicle.

The driver fled the scene, leaving the injured 13-year-old siblings.

Philips was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, but died hours after the crash. His sister was also taken to the hospital for treatment of a sprained arm.

A candlelight vigil in Tyler’s honor will be held at Granny Park on Friday at 7 p.m.
