TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – Catherine Magbanua, who was found guilty of conspiring to kill Dan Markel, is scheduled to return to Leon County later this month.
According to a document filed with the Leon County Clerk of Court and Comptroller, a Leon County judge on Wednesday approved Magbanua’s transfer from the state prison to the Leon County Prosecutor’s Office for Praffer’s hearing on or before Nov. 28. 30.
A promissory note is an agreement to provide information to the prosecution.
The Leon County Sheriff’s Office will receive Magbanua from the Florida Department of Corrections prior to her appointment at the state attorney’s office.
The court document mentions Magbanua as a witness. After the meeting, she will be taken back to the state prison.
According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Magbanua is being held at the Lowell Correctional Facility in Ocala, which is a facility for women and young offenders.
Magbanua was found guilty on May 27 first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and incitement to commit murder for her role in the July 2014 death of Markel, who was a Florida State University law professor.

She was sentenced to life imprisonment July 29.
Magbanua was an intermediary between Sigfredo Garcia and Charles “Charlie” Adelson.
Garcia was convicted of murdering Markel in October 2019 and is serving a life sentence in state prison for murder.
Court documents accuse Adelson, who is Markel’s former brother-in-law, of participating in the hit-and-run.
Adelson was arrested on April 21 in south Florida and faces first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and incitement to murder charges.
He is expected to go on trial next year.
