A man is accused of trying to run over a police sergeant in a stolen truck in North Carolina, news outlets reported.
Police officers responded to a vehicle break-in call just before 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 23, on Wattown Street in Winston-Salem and found A 63-year-old man in a stolen van, WXII reported, citing the Winston-Salem Police Department. Officers told the man to get out of the vehicle.
Police said he started the truck and tried to run over Sgt with the police department, according to WGHP.
He intentionally rammed another officer’s car, police said, before beginning the chase, the paper reported.
Less than one mile later, the man pulled into a dead end on East Brooklyn Street, got out of his truck and began running from police, WXII reported.
Officers they caught him and arrested him, WFMY reports. According to the arrest reports, several charges have been brought against him.
No one was injured in the incident, WFMY reports.
