Shocking body camera video captured a man biting a police officer and not letting him go during a tense arrest Saturday in Sarasota.

Daryl Williams, 36, is being held in the Sarasota County Jail on charges of battery on an officer, aggravated battery and violently resisting arrest. In the video, he is seen on the ground struggling with officers as they try to arrest him on charges of beating a pregnant woman a day earlier. On Friday, the woman told officers that Williams beat her and threw her around the house.

Police caught up with Williams at Express Grocery to arrest him on charges of domestic violence. He tried to run away, and then a fight took place. Williams dug her teeth into the officer’s hand between her thumb and forefinger so deeply that she had to struggle to free her hand. The officers punched Williams in the head several times and it took several minutes before he let go.

Photos of the deep bite show serious trauma. The names of the officer who was bitten and the pregnant woman who reported domestic violence are being withheld under Marsy’s Law. Both were treated for their injuries.

Williams has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 2003 on charges including resisting with violence, drug use and sexual assault. He is being held on a bond of more than $100,000. His next trial will take place in March.
