On Tuesday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office held a special ceremony at McGregor Baptist Church in honor of the fallen deputies.

There was a video of the salute from three guns at the ceremony. Other law enforcement officers and some family members of the victims were given the opportunity to lay a rose on the wreath.

During the funeral services, the fallen deputies were honored and remembered one after another.

Family members of the victims along with their siblings and neighbors are gathering at McGregor Baptist Church to pay tribute to the 11 fallen LCS MPs.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno said: “Words are words, but when you come in and see people sitting here and they want to share this grief with loved ones who have lost their loved ones. This is a very special day. “

The memorial service began with Sheriff Marchena entering the church along with members of the families of the victims.

“I’ll tell you like a sheriff. No, my biggest fear is that I don’t want to see a single rose. But I’ll tell you, it hit you in the heart a couple of times throughout the ceremony. It just brings tears to your eyes when you look and see that loved ones are mourning the loss even after years. What they feel beats you right in the heart. And this is a very special day for all of us, ”said Sheriff Marcena.

Now, explains Sheriff Marcen, today is also a reminder.

“When we get that call. We go no matter what. And it’s a reminder of how dangerous this career is. But the most important thing is that it is bitter, because while we are mourning here with the families of the victims, my heart aches when I stand here and watch 11 roses, go to the reef. But on the other hand, it is important. And it is very nice that they are in the best place. And we never forget. “

The memorial service lasted about an hour. It also coincides with National Police Week. Sheriff Marcena says this week provides an important opportunity for people across the country to remember those who made the latest sacrifice.
