HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ (WABC) – A foreign object fell on the roof of a house in New Jersey.

It happened at a home in Hopewell, Mercer County, where police say a metal object went through the roof and into the home’s hardwood floor.

This oblong object measuring 4 by 6 inches is believed to be a meteorite.

Hopewell City Police believe the possible meteorite may have been related to the recent Eta Aquarida meteor shower.

The ranch-style home was occupied at the time of the incident, but no injuries were reported.

Officials contacted several agencies to help identify the subject.

The investigation is ongoing.
