A security guard accidentally shoots a robbery victim: TX cops

A security guard accidentally shot and killed a robbery victim after trying to help, according to Texas police.

A security guard trying to stop a robbery outside a Texas nightclub accidentally shot the victim twice, the Houston Police Department said.

The incident took place in north houston around 3 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, outlets reported.

Two armed men in masks police told KPRC that they approached a man parked in front of the club and attempted to rob him. One of the suspects grabbed the man, and the security guard, seeing what was happening, rushed to help.

The guard took out his gun and fired. But he is accidentally hit the victim twice, HOU reports. The victim is expected to survive.

Suspects ran, but a security guard caught one and held them in place until police arrived, KTRK reported. The other fled in a gray Dodge Charger.

The reports did not say whether the guard would face any charges.

An investigation is underway.
