A Long Island woman was arrested after she intentionally drove her SUV into a teenager, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

A New York woman has been arrested after being accused of intentionally running her car over a teenager, police said.

A 35-year-old woman from Shirley, a Long Island village about 65 miles east of New York City, approached a group of teenagers near a parking lot on Oct. 7, the Suffolk County Police Department said in a news release.

According to the release, she wanted to inform them about an altercation involving her son.

The group of teenagers dispersed and the woman intentionally hit the 15-year-old with her SUV before driving away, police said.

The boy was taken to the nearest hospital, his life is not in danger, according to the report.

The woman’s attorney, Kathryn Fernandez, told McClatchy News that her son had been constantly bullied at school since moving to the area two years ago. On the morning of October 7, her son called her and said that he was attacked by a group of children when he got off the bus.

“He was knocked out with a cold,” Fernandez said. “His brand new Yeezy slides were done” and he had “bruises all over his face.”

The woman made numerous attempts to resolve the issue with the school, but “they didn’t do anything,” Fernandez said.

“I know the police said the kids were separated when she arrived,” she added. “That’s not my information, and actually I think it’s still a chaotic scene.”

The Suffolk County Prosecutor’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from McClatchy News.

The woman was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident without reporting injuries, the release said.
