RALEIGH, NC – Raleigh police said officers were on the scene of an active shooting that left one police officer dead and four or five other people dead, according to law enforcement sources.
The suspect in the shooting is still at large.
Officers responded Thursday to a call about a shooting near the Neuse River Greenway in the Hedingham area near Osprey Cove Drive and Bay Harbor Drive.
In accordance with ABC11 One officer was shot, sources said. A second officer was also shot, sources told ABC11. They will not be known immediately.
Raleigh City Councilman Corey Branch told ABC11 that he knows two officers were shot, but doesn’t know exactly how many more victims there are.
ABC News confirmed that at least three shooting victims were taken to WakeMed.

Gov. Roy Cooper tweeted that he had spoken with Raleigh Mayor Mary-Anne Baldwin and was using state resources to respond to the scene.
“DPS is providing all necessary resources as required by this investigation and is working with local law enforcement to stop this shooter,” said NCDPS Secretary Eddie M. Buffalo Jr.
The suspected shooter was a white teenager with a long gun. No one is in custody.
Sources told ABC11 that one of the officers killed was off-duty and on his way to work when they encountered the armed suspect in the 6000 block of Osprey Drive.
Police reportedly cornered the suspect in a nearby garage, sources told ABC11.
Officers processed at least four separate crime scenes.
People who live and work in the area were advised to stay inside their homes and call 911 if they see anything or anyone suspicious. Residents heading home were allowed to enter the neighborhood Thursday night after waiting several hours.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area as it remains an active crime scene.
