Palm Bush, Florida – A resident of the shelter is dead, and one resident reportedly confessed to beating the woman.
Deputies responded to the Gold Choice Assisted Living & Memory Care facility in Palm Coast around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
The victim was found beaten in the room of another resident identified as 72-year-old Cliff Modi.
Modi reportedly told nursing home staff that he had beaten to death a woman in his room.
Deputies arrived to find the woman on the bed in the Fashion Room. Investigators confirmed the woman was injured. Ambulance medics pronounced her dead at the scene.
“This is an unfortunate situation for all the families involved, especially for the victims,” said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Steel. “The division of main cases is still under investigation, and charges are pending. It is a very sad result for the victim and her family, and our thoughts and prayers with her family. ”
