Bill Meher constantly venturing into difficult areas and he was not disappointed on Friday night when arguing … gender reassignment with children has gone too far.
The host of “Real Time” began his weekly editorial with interesting statistics … by 1946, only 0.08% of the population identified themselves as LGBTQ. That number rose to 2.6% among baby boomers. It rose again to 4.2% with Generation X, 10.5% among Millennials and 20.8% with Generation Z.
Maher says that most of the growth in interest is good … that people feel comfortable enough to say who they are in front of the questionnaire, but in his opinion, some growth is attributed to fashion … that is, now it is fashionable to be LGBTQ.
Bill’s argument is full of humor, but in essence, especially when it comes to children, their feelings are not always innate … he says they often react to trends, to friends, to social networks, and parents should not reflexively perceive their children follow the path of gender reassignment until the child’s self-identity is assured. He focuses on hormone blockers for young children, the effects of which he thinks are being silenced.
He makes an interesting, controversial argument. Listen and judge for yourself.
