One thing about Beyonceshe’s certainly capable of creating a buzz, but her latest album turned out to be more impressive than she probably expected.

While the Bey Hive is still playing “Renaissance,” the 90s music duo Fred was right is calling out Beyonce for allegedly sampling one of their songs without permission. The brothers, born Fred and Richard Fairbrass, spoke The sunand called Bey “cheeky” for sampling their 1992 single “I’m Too Sexy” on her track “Alien Superstar.”

Usually an artist reaches out to us, but Beyoncé doesn’t because she’s such a sassy person. She probably just thought “come and get me” so we found out after the fact when you did. But everyone else, Drake and Taylor Swift, they came to us.”

The ’90s hit has been sampled by many notable artists, including Drake, who used the track in his 2021 song “Way 2 Sexy.”

They need our permission to use our tune, so they send us a demo and we approve it, and if so, we get a co-writing credit. Beyonce has 22 writers with this thing, it’s ridiculous, so we’re going to get about 40 [pounds].”

The duo explained the slight reduction in profits, saying: “We think it’s because there’s very little money in sales at the moment, like friends, golf partners, engineers, bookers and the guy who brings Coke, they all want to take a cut.”

In addition, the British couple told The Sun that they feel they are “powerless” compared to Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who are worth a combined $1.5 billion.

We can’t stop it. There is nothing we can do. This is bullshit. You are about to enter into a conversation with someone who has a lot more presence, power and money than we do. And it won’t go well. Better to let go. If you’re not careful, you’ll spend your life looking back. We are always looking ahead.”

The Fairbrass aren’t the first to come after Bey and her new album. Kelis also accused the “Single Ladies” singer of using her 2003 hit “Milkshake” on the album.
