Attention all dairy enthusiasts and Costco shoppers, take heed: a recent recall notice has been issued for a Tillamook cheese product sold at the wholesale giant due to the potential presence of small pieces of plastic.
Prompted by this issue, Tillamook has taken proactive measures by voluntarily removing the affected product from the marketplace. In a letter addressed to Costco customers, the brand emphasized its commitment to consumer safety and explained the rationale behind the recall.
The recall specifically pertains to the Monterey Jack Cheese included in 32 oz. twin-packs alongside Tillamook’s Colby Jack Cheese slices. These products were distributed in the Northwest region from May 9 to 31 of this year and bear a best-by date of Oct. 22.
Costco has urged customers who still possess the affected product to refrain from consuming it and to return the package to their local store for a full refund. While the discovery of plastic material is concerning, the retailer has assured consumers that the likelihood of any adverse effects from consuming the product is minimal.
In a reassuring statement signed by Tillamook County Creamery Association’s executive vice president Mike Bever, consumers who have already consumed the product without issue have been advised that no further action is necessary. This message aims to alleviate any concerns regarding the safety of the product and underscores Tillamook’s commitment to transparency and customer satisfaction.
As consumers, it is essential to remain vigilant and heed recall notices to ensure the safety and well-being of ourselves and our families. Costco and Tillamook’s swift response to this issue reflects their dedication to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in their products.
