Starting his presidential campaign, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is being mocked over his choice of logo to greet visitors to his official website as he files to officially run against the former president Donald Trump.

Before him, the event was held on Twitter together with the owner of the platform Elon Muskhis company’s website consisted of a simple image of an alligator in a swamp.

The logo appears to have been intended as a reference to Mr DeSantis’ home state of Florida, but Twitter users were quick to poke fun at the logo’s choice of a swamp creature after Mr Trump spent much of the 2016 campaign promising to “drain the swamp”. citing Washington, D.C., and speaking out against the “deep state.”

“Look, I’m doing my best to stay neutral (for now), but using a swamp creature as a teaser for your presidential campaign seems like a pretty misguided move.” – Nick Sortor tweeted.

“Could this be the DeSantis team’s biggest communication blunder yet?” another Twitter user asked.

Far-right commentator Laura Loomer wrote: “So he admits he’s a swamp creature? It is clear. I’m amazed at how f***ing political instincts @GovRonDeSantis are… If he loses the primary, I’ll eat fried gator to celebrate.”

This was previously reported by Trump’s adviser Fox News that “Twitter ads are perfect for Ron DeSantis” because “that way he doesn’t have to interact with people and the media can’t ask him any questions.”

One of Mr. DeSantis’ perceived weaknesses compared to the former president, who is more than 30 years his senior, is believed to be a lack of charisma and the ability to connect with voters on a personal level.

Wednesday’s Twitter Spaces event will be moderated by tech entrepreneur David Sachs, a supporter of the governor and an adviser to Mr. Musk. according to NBC News.

An image of the alligator also appeared on Mr. DeSantis’ Twitter account.

“DeSantis changed his Twitter banner to a swamp creature right before announcing his presidential bid. You can’t make these things up,” one Twitter user tweeted said.

The Trump campaign released an ad calling Mr. DeSantis a “swamp creature.”

Rick Wilson, a former Republican strategist who later incorporated the party through his work on the Lincoln Project, wrote on Wednesday morning that “today Ron DeSantis emerges from his cocoon, blossoms into a beautiful butterfly, flutters through the woods of Elon, and then gets eaten by a giant buzzard named Donald Trump.”

Far-right Republican Georgia representative Marjorie Taylor Green tweeted on Wednesday afternoon that Mr. DeSantis is a “frivolous candidate.”

“America First Republicans and MAGA have made it loud and clear: President Donald J. Trump is the only candidate they want to send to the general election in 2024,” she added.

Joe Walsh, a former representative of the Republican Party of Illinois, said Miami Herald that “I don’t want Donald Trump to be the candidate because I see him as an existential threat.”

“I think most Never Trumps will probably support DeSantis, even those who don’t like him and have reservations,” he added.

The lawyer, Ron Filipkowski, a fierce critic of Mr. Trump and Mr. DeSantis, told the paper that “I think DeSantis is just ** and a right-wing person who likes to pander to the crowd too much. But I don’t think that Desantis is going to pull us out of NATO or fire half of the civil service.”

In response to these comments, Donald Trump Jr tweeted: “There is only one presidential candidate that the radical left and establishment RINOs fear, and his name is Donald J. Trump!”
