Former Laker Devin George not ready to give up Russell Westbrook the experiment in Los Angeles is indicative TMZ Sports they must stick with the point guard amid rumors he could be sent out of town.
We spoke to George, with whom we won three titles Shak and Kobe Bryant from 2000-02 is at LAX this week … and he said the Lakers shouldn’t think about trading Russ, whose name has been at the center of trade rumors all offseason.
“I think it might work,” George said. “I’m a Russell fan. Maybe I’m involved in what he’s done in the past.”
George acknowledged that Westbrook does need to adjust his style of play … but ultimately, he says the former MVP needs to play the appropriate roles on the team along with his teammates.
“Too much talent,” George said. “I think that’s the main thing. Everyone just plays their part and cuts, and doesn’t say what I did before. I’m just a Russ fan, so I’m a little biased.’

Westbrook’s name was rumored to be in motion during Kyrie Irving sweepstakes, and most recently the triple-double king was reportedly the centerpiece of a deal involving the Pacers stars Miles Turner and Buddy Hield.
The Lakers missed the playoffs last season, finishing with a 33-49 record, 11th-worst in the Western Conference, but George projects a return to the playoffs with a trio of Russ, LeBron Jamesand (healthy) Anthony Davis leading way.
“I think they can be a dangerous team come playoff time,” said the three-time NBA champion. “Once it’s playoff time, I think they’ll be able to make some noise.”
George sees the Lakers finishing somewhere between the fifth and eighth seeds this season, but he says the Lake Show could finish as high as fourth — if AD can stay on the court.
