NEW YORK (WABC) – As Channel 7 Eyewitness News celebrates Disability Pride Month, we celebrate the achievements of the community while taking a hard look at the work that needs to be done.

Disability Pride Month began in 1990 when President George W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act, a monumental step forward for people with disabilities.

But there are still struggles at the institutional and organizational level, as we will explore in this special article.
