Donald Trump is suing CNN — claiming the network defamed him out of fear he’ll run for president again … and he’s asking for a huge sum of money to do so.
The ex-president just filed a federal lawsuit against the network, alleging that it has been spewing a lot of defamatory rhetoric about him over the past couple of years — and he says it’s all an attempt to paint him in a bad light in anticipation of his 2024 run.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Trump is irritated by certain labels he says CNN uses to describe him — including “racist,” “Russian lackey,” “insurgent” and even a comparison to “Hitler.” The words simply go too far in Trump’s mind, and he believes they constitute defamation.
It should be noted that Trump’s lawyers are expressing an opinion Hitler Jebs argued that CNN’s repeated use of the phrase “Big Lie” when referring to Trump contesting the results of the 2020 election is actually a direct reference to the term used by Hitler to incite hatred of Jews and justify the genocide of the Holocaust.
So in their minds, they see it as CNN linking Trump to Hitler using the same term.
There’s also this quote that lays out his beef… “Apart from simply covering any negative information about the plaintiff and ignoring all the positive information about him, CNN sought to use its enormous influence — supposedly as a ‘reliable’ news source — to vilify the plaintiff in the minds of its constituents.” viewers and readers for the purpose of political victory over him.”
Trump’s team says CNN is blurring the line between opinion and news … claiming it’s now reporting it as the straight truth, which it says is a legal no-no. DT is seeking damages north of $475,000,000.
CNN’s response should be interesting — we’ve reached out and will let you know what the network has to say to Trump, if anything.
