In July, a 9-year-old boy drowned in a California pool two family members were arrested on charges of child endangerment, according to a news release from the Mountain View Police Department.

A 25-year-old and a 42-year-old Mountain View man were arrested Thursday, Oct. 6, following a child drowning investigation, police said.

Investigators determined two family members were “responsible for not watching the child” because he left the home alone and no adult was present when the boy drowned, police said.

After rescue measures The boy was taken to a hospital on July 6, where he died, police said.

“This news is devastating to our community, especially the parents and students affected by this tragic loss,” police Capt. Saul Jaeger said in a release. “I am grateful for the persistence of our detectives in getting to the bottom of this case and bringing justice to this young man.”

Mountain View is about 40 miles southeast of San Francisco.
