It’s time to vote again for Community Credit Union Florida’s Athlete of the Week at 321preps.com and floridatoday.com.
The following athletes were nominated for performances from September 26 to October. 1. You will find the newsletter at the bottom of the page. Don’t forget to update if the survey is not visible on the first download. Voting will continue until noon on Thursday.
Last week’s winner was Connor Brown of Edgewood.
Brown received 12,696 votes, 50.78% of the 25,001 votes cast. He is followed by Melbourne bowler Vic Nardon (5,172 votes) and Cocoa Beach swimmer Cooper Hewitt (3,049).
Coaches and athletic directors are invited to nominate athletes each week. Email an athlete’s accomplishments for the previous Monday through Saturday to bmccallum@floridatoday.com by 10 a.m. each Monday.
Here are this week’s nominees:
Shayaan Kim, Golf at Cocoa Beach
At the Great Outdoors on Monday, Kim shot a nine-hole round of 35 under par. In the last three matches, the eighth-grader has four under.
Rebecca Luchs, Merritt Island Golf
Lachs shot a nine-hole 35 on Monday at Santry Country Club. It was one less than the rate.
Immanuel Martin, Rockledge Bowling
Martin shot a game-high 227 against Edgewood on Tuesday at Merritt Island Shore Lanes. His season average is 214.7.
Gabriela Dancy-Rentz, Odyssey Charter Bowling
Dancy-Rentz hit a 223 game against West Shore at Palm Bay Shore Lanes on Monday. Her season average is 163.9.
Havana Weilnau, Merritt Island Christian Volleyball
Weilnau recorded 10 kills in Tuesday’s road volleyball match at Calvary Chapel.
