Ford is recalling more than 1 million vehicles due to a problem with brake hoses

Ford announced this week that it is recalling more than 1.2 million of its vehicles due to a serious problem with brake fluid hoses.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZs sold between 2013 and 2018 have a problem that can cause the front brake hoses to rupture and leak brake fluid.

“Leaking brake fluid will increase brake pedal travel and increase the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk [a] accidents,” NHTSA said.

Owners will be notified of the recall by letter, the agency said. According to NHTSA, dealers will replace the front brake hoses free of charge.

Owners can contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 and ask about recall 23S12 or contact NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.
