ARLANDA, FL – Orange County MPs say former NBA player Adrian Payne was killed in Orlando early Monday morning.
The man who allegedly pulled the trigger was detained.

He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Initially, investigators were unable to confirm the identity of the victim. The sheriff’s office confirmed on Monday afternoon Orlando Fox Branch that 31-year-old Payne was the victim.
Lawrence Dority, 29, reportedly remained at the scene and was taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning. He was then arrested on a first-degree murder warrant and taken to Orange County Jail.
Payne grew up in Dayton, Ohio, and played for the Spartans from 2010 to 2014. After the 2014 season, he was the winner of the second team of the entire Big Ten.
