Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas says that there is no bad blood between him Javaris Crenton more than a decade after they had a notorious incident with a gun in the locker room … saying he was still talking to his former teammate in jail this week.
The 40-year-old former Wizards guard sat down for an interview with Lishon McCoy, Adam “Pacman” Jones and Brandon Marshall for the episode “I AM ATLETE” – where he talked about his relationship with JC.
Pacman asked Arenas if he and Javaris were still arguing after the two pulled guns at each other in the Wizards’ locker room after a gambling dispute in 2009 … and Gilbert said no.
In fact, Arenas said the two were really great friends … and even though Javaris was locked up in jail after he was accused of shooting and killing a woman in 2011 they are still talking regularly.
“We talk once a week,” Arenas said. “It’s like when we were teammates,‘ Man, what do you think of this series? What do you think of this series? “
“He’s just talking about basketball. We’re just talking about basketball.”
Gilbert said that even though the duo’s career went downhill after being penalized in the league for a shooting incident in the locker room … shortly after all this he was even cool with the former Wizards player.
“His mother needed neck surgery,” Arenas said. “He asked me [for money] “Because he knows I won’t keep it to myself.”
“Even then, I took care of him,” Arenas said. “Because no one wanted to fuck him at the time. Like, even to this day I send him cell phones if he needs a new cell phone.”
Arenas left the NBA after the 2012 season. Meanwhile, 34-year-old Crittentan is in the middle of a 23-year prison sentence.
