Afterwards, Jenna Dewan feels “honored.” Jojo Siva shared her role in the singer’s realization that she is part of the LGBTQ+ community. On Friday, Dewan shared a message on Instagram where she reacted to Siva’s video. As the YouTube star shouts out Devan’s ‘Lip Sync Battle’ appearance, the 41-year-old is visibly moved.
Dewan further expressed her gratitude to Siva in her caption. “Oh, Jojo….! I have never been more honored 😘😘😘🌈🌈🌈,” she wrote.
The video of the dancer’s reaction comes days after Siva opened up about her identity and how she first realized she was a part of LGBTQ+ community on TikTok. Ever the storyteller, Siva posted a video Oct. 5, following the viral TikTok trend “One thing about me…” in which users start with Nicki Minaj’s iconic song “Super Freaky Girl” and continue to tell an anecdote from their lives to the beat of the track. Siwa’s, which she called “The Time of My Gay Awakening Story,” begins with none other than Demi Lovato.
“One thing about me, when I was 12, Demi Lovato released ‘Cool For the Summer.’ I really liked it and I used to listen to it all the time – I didn’t know what it meant then, but now that I’m much older and I understand it, I know what it means,’ she says quickly, with subtle hints in mind. hints of the song about to experiment with sexuality (although Lovato has never officially confirmed the exact meaning). “Then a few years later, Jenna Dewan went on ‘Lip Sync Battle.’ She did a really great “Magic Mike” number. [and] I watched it almost every day,” Siva continues cheerfully.
Siva didn’t think much of these fixations at the time, but she says there was a moment of realization in which everything finally connected. “When I was little, I didn’t know she was gay. For now. A couple of years later, the man was my first date. And he wanted to have sex with me, and I didn’t want to, I never wanted to, I was going crazy at the thought of it,” she says. After this experience, Siva says she gained a lot of clarity about who she was and what she really wanted. “[I] it was immediately clear that men are not my thing, women are my gig – gotta go!” she concludes, quickly breaking away from the camera. Commenters seemed to love how charmingly relatable Siva’s story was (and agreed with how hot Devan’s lip sync remains to this day).
