The sheriff says it’s “unclear” if the new victims were suspected by reporters

Orange County Sheriff John Mina said during a press conference Wednesday that “the suspect is not talking much at this time. It is not clear if he knew it was the media or not. We are still trying to fix all this.”

Mina said the News 13 vehicle is not like a typical news van with TV station markings.

Deputies initially responded to the Pine Hills area, northwest of Orlando, on Wednesday morning after reports of a woman in her 20s who had been shot.

Moses “was familiar with the woman this morning, but as far as we know, was not involved with the reporters and was not involved with the mother and the 9-year-old,” Mina said.

Witnesses said a man approached a news vehicle later Wednesday and opened fire, hitting two reporters. The man then went to a nearby house and shot the mother and daughter.

WFTV crews, who were also reporting on the early morning shooting, attempted to provide medical aid to Spectrum 13 reporters.
