Former NFL running back LeGarrett Blunt was involved in a brawl at a youth football game on Saturday … throwing punches in a wild melee – and now, TMZ Sports learned that the police are investigating all this.
The altercation occurred after the conclusion of a game for children 12 and under in Gilbert, Arizona.
Blount was coaching the GCYFC Gators against the Chandler Elite Bears — when in the postgame handshake line … he seemed to take exception to what someone told him.
Drone video shows Blount getting upset — and for a few moments animatedly waving at the opposing team’s coaches. Eventually, he got so angry that he took off at a dead sprint, trying to tackle someone on the sideline.
Blount was eventually restrained — but footage from the field shows dozens of parents jumping between the sidelines and arguing.
The verbal altercation grew more and more heated — and that’s when Blount ran in and was seen on video throwing two punches at the man in the white T-shirt.
He was pulled away from the area, but others in the crowd continued to argue and bicker. Finally, after a few minutes, the people dispersed.
Cops tell us they were called to the scene shortly after 7pm “in response to several reports of adults fighting during a youth soccer game.”
However, we’re told the fight was over by the time officers arrived. No casualties have been reported.
Police said they were investigating the incident and described Blunt as “participant.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time Blount has thrown his right hand on the football field — he famously sacked a Boise State defensive lineman Byron Hout after the 2009 game, when he was a member of the Univ. of the Oregon State football team. He was suspended from the Ducks for all of this, but was later reinstated.
Blount went on to have a solid NFL career, winning three Super Bowls and throwing 56 touchdowns in 132 games.
