Start your holiday countdown now: Lindsay LohanA Netflix Christmas movie is coming to the streamer in November. The film, Lohan’s first since 2019’s Among the Shadows, looks like a classic holiday rom-com with loads of candy and jingle bells on top. Lohan stars alongside “Glee” singer Chord Overstreet. In the trailer for the film, released on Oct. 7, Lohan and Overstreet’s antics — and love story — are accompanied by the song “Jinglebell Rock,” which of course Lohan sang in “Bad girls.”
The Netflix synopsis for the film reads: “A recently engaged, pampered hotel heiress suffers a skiing accident, suffers complete amnesia, and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.” Yes, it sounds very similar plot “Overboard” with a Christmas twist and we’re all set to enjoy the holiday mayhem to come. The film was shot in Utah in the fall of 2021.
In February 2022, Lohan spoke with Fashion about her role in the film. She explained: “I feel like we’re lacking romantic comedies these days. And that’s exactly what it is: it’s a really fun, feel-good romantic comedy. And it’s actually very funny. When I read the script and when we started shooting it, I didn’t realize how physically funny we were going to be. There’s a lot of physical comedy in it, which I really enjoyed doing — it’s one of my favorite things that I haven’t done in a while.” She also said that choosing this project was “perfect” for her return to film because she wanted to do “something happy, fun and family-oriented.”
Lohan had a busy 2022. In June, she announced that she married her fiance Bader Shammas. At the time, the actor wrote on Instagram: “I am the happiest woman in the world. You found me and knew I wanted to find happiness and grace at the same time. I am impressed that you are my husband. My life and everything.”
Lohan was also a presenter Amazon’s reality show Lovestruck High earlier this year and launched her podcast “Lockdown with Lindsay Lohan” in April.
