MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) — A man accused of making online threats to a local Jewish community is due to appear in court on Sunday.

Police arrested Christopher Brown on Saturday in Pennsylvania Station. “This particular person looked very distinctive, and that’s what helped – a great eyeball from the MTA police,” Robert Boyce said.

He faces charges of terroristic threats and possession of weapons.

MTA Police Chief John Mueller released a statement Saturday that said in part,

“The tremendous police work here reflects MTA PD’s primary goal of protecting millions of daily commuters in cooperation with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners.”

Brown has come under the radar of law enforcement for spewing anti-Semitic hate speech on social media, including a tweet last week in which he wrote, “I’m going to ask a priest if I should be a husband or shoot up a synagogue.”

One of his last posts mentioned “big moves on Friday”.

Brown is from Akebogo, Suffolk, and his family told police he was allegedly on his way to the town to buy a gun.

A second participant, Matthew Marrero, was charged with possession of a weapon. Police say he accompanied Brown on Saturday and that they found a ghost gun in his apartment.

Marer appeared before a judge Saturday night and is currently being held on $150,000 bail.
