The moment was to belong to the future resort of Margaritaville. Instead, resort managers turned their attention to the owners of their neighboring businesses on an overcast morning in Fort Myers Beach.
Margaritaville did celebrate the topping out of construction Friday morning at 1192 Estero Blvd. But the photos featured not only resort managers, but also more than a dozen beach business owners who returned to work despite the devastation of Hurricane Jan.
Places like Tunaskin Aquatic Apparel have opened temporary pop-up shops pending renovations to their original brick-and-mortar locations. Closed restaurants like La Ola Surfside Restaurant are finding new ways to operate. La Ola operates a food truck in the remnants of Times Square.
