Margot Robbie happily passes Harley Quinn’s baseball bat to the next actor. In a recent interview with MTV Newsthe Oscar-nominated actor said she would like to see Lady Gaga will take over the role when she is cast in Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux. While Gaga’s choice has yet to be confirmed, Robbie has no doubts that the singer and actor will “do something incredible” with Harley.

“It’s been an honor to build a strong enough foundation that Harley is now one of those characters that other actors are trying to play,” Robbie explained. “I think she’s going to do something incredible with it.”

Since the Joker movies exist in a completely different DC universe than Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey where Robbie plays Harley, there’s room for the second movie joker to introduce a completely new version of the character. On August 4 tweet, Gaga has confirmed that she will star in the film, but her role has not yet been confirmed. However, Robbie is just thrilled that Harley has become a character that can be passed from actor to actor, like Batman, Macbeth and many other famous fictional characters.

“It makes me so happy because I said from the beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, like Macbeth or Batman, always going from great actor to great actor,” Robbie told MTV News.

She continued: “It’s like somebody can make their Batman, somebody can make their Macbeth or somebody else, you know? And I feel that in not too many cases it’s female characters.’

Knowing that the eccentric and enigmatic Harley Quinn has now joined their ranks, it seems like a win for Robbie – and Gaga’s interpretation of the character would be incredible for her.
