Below is a list of alternative schedules and special events taking place throughout Southwest Florida for Remembrance Day.

Cape Coral City Hall will be closed Monday on the occasion of Remembrance Day. City offices will reopen on Tuesday in normal mode. Garbage collection services will be postponed to one day for the entire week.

Most of Lee County’s administrative operations will be closed Monday on the occasion of Remembrance Day.

The administrative and county offices of the Charlotte County Sheriff will be closed Monday on the occasion of Remembrance Day. The offices will reopen on Tuesday for normally scheduled hours.

In honor of Remembrance Day, active and retired servicemen and veterans will receive one free entrance on Monday at the Sun Splash Family water park with a real military ticket. www.SunSplashWaterpark.com

Remembrance Day of the 10 and 5 km race veterans

Bonita Springs Memorial Ceremony

  • 9 a.m.
  • Riverside Park (10450 Reynolds St, Bonita Springs)
  • The Remembrance Day ceremony will include traditional memorial events such as hanging flowers, handing out blue / gold star flags, fireworks from 21 guns and laying wreaths. The service is organized by the Bonita Springs Veterans Advisory Committee, which consists of all volunteers.

Remembrance Day event at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens

  • 9:30 a.m.
  • 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers
  • The ceremony will include a flight of military aircraft, attended by Guns N Hoses Pipes and Drum Corps of SW FL, Harney Point VFW Post 8463 of Cape Coral, with keynote speeches by Congressman Byron Donalds, a representative of Southwest Florida County 19 and U.S. Army Officer and Officer Pejo war in Vietnam Dennis Battles, who served as commander of a rifle platoon in Vietnam and then commanded a rifle company while serving in the Berlin Brigade, Berlin, Germany. Also in attendance will be Collier-Lee Honor Flight, Wreaths Across America and Mission United – United Way Program to serve those who have served.

Charlotte County Remembrance Day Ceremony

  • 10 a.m.
  • Veterans Park (Punta Gorda)
  • After the ceremony, a reception will be held at the Museum of Military Heritage. The museum will be open in the afternoon Monday, May 30 from 12.00 to 16.00Admission to all veterans will be canceled.

41st Annual Memorial Service

  • 10 a.m.
  • Garden of Honor of Veterans (950 Chiquita Blvd S., Cape Coral)
  • The Cape Coral Police Department will act as a color guard; Cape Coral Fire Department with two crossed air stairs against the backdrop of the American flag; Juan Carder, 1SG U.S. Army retired, will serve as chaplain; Dear John Gunther, Mayor of Cape Coral, will lead the oath of allegiance and read the Proclamation of the City. Among our special guests will be Gold Star parents and families; these are individuals who have lost a close relative during service. Anne-Marie Babosh, daughter of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, will perform patriotic songs. The “recall” of the deceased veterans will be read by a veteran of the US Air Force and program chairman Chuck Warren.

Hodges Funeral Home Commemoration Ceremony

  • Naples Memorial Garden (525 111th ave.Naples)
  • The Collier County Veterans Council is sponsoring the event, which includes fireworks from 21 guns, reading the names of the dead, color protection of the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, several speakers, cooking and more. The keynote speaker will be Brig. General Ed Brandt of the U.S. National Guard.

Desota County Remembrance Day Ceremony

  • Desota County Courthouse
  • The ceremony will include a tribute to our fallen prisoners of war and the Interior Ministry, a performance on the Amazing Grace bagpipe and a performance by Nancy Mabra chalk.

Remembrance Day: Remember and honor

Remembrance Day downtown Gulf Coast

  • Downtown on the Gulf Coast
  • On this day of remembrance, we are holding a FREE family event to celebrate and raise awareness and raise funds for the SWFL Military Museum and Library. This event will include live music from Electric Lipstick, games, food, raffles and entertainment. During the event, a mobile museum of the SWFL military museum will be on site to inform the population about the military heritage of our country.
