Frontman of Metallica James Hatfield and his wife of more than two decades are gone, TMZ has learned.
Sources close to the former couple tell us that James has filed for divorce Francesca Hatfield in Colorado earlier this year. Surprisingly, the submission was never reported and the couple kept it out of the limelight.
We’re told they’re still in touch as they have children together.
James and Francesca met in 1992 and married in 1997. They have two daughters and a son. James has credited Francesca over the years for helping him through difficult times, including his anger management issues.
In one of the interviews, James said that Francesca once threatened to take the children out of the house if he could not control his temper.
Francesca was Hatfield’s first marriage … she also sometimes joined him on tour, visiting places around the world.
