Dry air on the back of Hurricane Jan has officially ended the rainy season in Southwest Florida! We will benefit from the beautiful weather as cleanup and restoration efforts continue throughout the area.
Expect plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid to upper 80s with completely dry conditions through Tuesday. The nights will be very comfortable with lows in the mid to upper 60s by Thursday morning.
Starting Wednesday, we may see a stray shower or two in the viewing area until around Friday as moisture gradually increases in the region. Most of the rain won’t stop until the end of the week. Some rain will return on Saturday.
It’s still hurricane season, so we’re still watching the tropics. Now in the extreme eastern part of the Atlantic there is a disturbance with a probability of 70% of the development of a tropical climate. It should move northwest and will not pose a threat to the United States regardless of development. We are also tracking a new tropical wave a few hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles that has a 20% chance of developing.
It is scheduled to move to the Caribbean later this week. It does not pose an immediate threat to the United States at this time, but we will be keeping an eye on it with the weather service.
