DAPHNA, AL – An Alabama family was overjoyed when they were reunited with their lost dog after he went missing nearly two years ago, a viral video shows.

Karen Ellard photographed her children’s tearful reunion as they greeted their long-lost pooch Leroy as they hopped off the bus on January 9.

In the video, filmed at their home in Daphne, Eleard and her husband can be seen grooming Leroy and trimming inches of matted fur.

Eleard said her now 7-year-old Coton de Tulear escaped from their black hole in May 2021, prompting an exhaustive search in their community.

After months of searching and posting on social media, Elleard’s family asked the microchip company to list Leroy as “lost.”

Eleard received a call from the animal shelter on Monday to say that Leroy had been found and identified by his microchip.

Ellard said Leroy was “healthy, matted and very happy to see us!”
