NEW YORK (WABC) – The heroes of this week’s MTA are the workers responsible for helping all of us navigate the urban transportation system.

A team of 40 people, led by John Kern, is responsible for the design, manufacture and installation of more than 84,000 signs at 472 metro stations.

They are also responsible for maintaining signage at bus depots and MTA facilities.

The station sign group works both to maintain existing signs and to replace obsolete or damaged signs, as well as to design and install new ones if necessary.

The ability of this team of 40 people to manage so many characters in the system is excellent.

“We thank John and the Station Signage team for their dedication and for guiding us all in the right direction,” the MTA said.
