CHINATOWN, Manhattan (WABC) — If you see a lot of rabbits hopping around town – from children to all kinds of merchandise, it’s because it’s the year of the rabbit.

Asians around the world celebrated the coming of a new lunar New Year with traditional fireworks, dragons – and even a story time.

But what does this mean for those born in the Year of the Rabbit?

“Work smart and energetic – lots of good chances for promotion, good job, friends and money too,” said Virginia Wong.

There are 12 zodiac animals in the lunar calendar. If you follow it seriously, there are even suggestions about which animals are compatible for marriage. However, most see it as a fun topic of conversation as they celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.

Red is considered the color of success. Those born in the Year of the Rabbit are advised to hug him tightly and wear red underwear.

Whatever animal you are, the Lunar New Year is all about new hope, good health and all good wishes.
