New York GOP gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin says shooting happened outside Long Island home

SHIRLEY, Long Island (WABC) — New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin says there was a shooting Sunday afternoon outside his Long Island home.

Suffolk County Police confirm they are investigating a shooting on St. George Drive West in Shirley that left two people injured.

Zeldin says his two 16-year-old daughters were home at the time, and when they heard gunshots and screams, they locked themselves in the bathroom and called 911.

Zeldin says the two who were shot were lying under his porch and in the bushes across the street. He says he does not know their identities and that his family is providing investigators with home surveillance footage.
