NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — It now costs more to take MTA bridges and tunnels after toll increases recently approved by the agency went into effect Sunday.

Tolls on nine MTA bridges and tunnels have risen an average of 5.5% and as much as 10% for those who don’t have E-Z Pass.

The toll increase as well as fare hikes on MTA’s subways and buses were adopted by the MTA Board on July 19.

The agency says the fare hikes were set to go into effect back in 2021, but were temporarily put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The toll and fare increases are projected to generate $117 million in 2023 alone.

New Passenger Vehicle Rates

E-ZPass $6.55 => $6.94 | Mid-Tier $8.36 => $9.11 | Tolls by Mail / Non-NYCSC E-ZPass $10.17 => $11.19
