Family problems. Building security guards for not doing enough to protect homicide victim after requesting well-being check

Since then, Johnson’s family has placed some of the blame on the building’s security for not doing enough to protect it.

Her relatives called security at the building on Sept. 21 to check on the well-being of Johnson — a rookie teacher — but the guards were turned away by two men, one of whom was believed to be her ex-boyfriend, according to police.

Security guards eventually returned to her apartment later that day and discovered her remains before calling the police.

As of Monday, authorities have yet to formally charge the ex-boyfriend.

A candlelight vigil was held in Johnson’s honor on September 28.

Anyone with information about Johnson’s death and/or the identities of the other six witnesses is urged to contact the NYPD.
