A skydiver died in a “hard landing” after his parachute broke, according to the Florida State Police Department.
A man On October 3, he jumped with a parachute in DeLand, about 40 miles north of Orlando, when his parachute failed, the DeLand Police Department said on Twitter.
Officers were on the scene at DeLand Airport just before 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 3.
This was reported by the press secretary of Fox35 Orlando the man was jumping with a parachute with a company called Skydive DeLand when his parachute failed to open.
A woman who answered the phone at Skydive DeLand hung up when McClatchy News reached out for comment.
The name of the parachutist has not yet been released.
In 2021 there were 10 fatal skydives, reports the US Parachute Association. Eleven people died while skydiving in 2020.
