Lori suggests that the jury may have rejected the death penalty because Cruz allegedly suffered from mental illness or his rough upbringing … but as far as she was concerned, he knew exactly what he was doing.

That’s why she says that after Cruz is officially sentenced, she’d like one of the inmates he’s in the lockup with to “take care” of him … and she doesn’t mean that in a good way.
Laurie says the jury’s decision was both horrifying and disgusting, and you could see those emotions on the faces of several family members in court Thursday morning.
As we reported, the jury recommended a life sentence for Cruz … after they failed to reach a unanimous decision on the death penalty.
Cruise 17 people were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 2018. Laura’s daughter, Alice, was just 14 years old when she was shot.

Laurie says it’s just not fair for Cruz to live behind bars and enjoy all the amenities in prison, like watching TV, while she has to visit her daughter at the cemetery. She says he’s a sick animal who doesn’t deserve redemption … and shouldn’t live another day.
After her daughter’s death, Lori and her family started an organization called Make our schools safe in order to ensure the safety of teachers and students at school.
The judge adjourned formal sentencing until November 1, when the surviving victims can read their victim impact statements.
