NEW YORK (WABC) – Eyewitness News reporter Chantee Lans has been covering Congressman Santos throughout LaGuardia Airport.

Lance asked Santos about his campaign finances — specifically, where the $700,000 he loaned the campaign came from despite only making $55,000 two years ago.

He did not answer.

Lance also asked about the investigation. There was no answer either.

Two days ago, the freshman GOP representative from Long Island and Queens contacted Lance directly, denying claims that he defrauded a once-homeless New Jersey veteran out of $3,000 to save a vet’s dying service dog.

The 34-year-old previously admitted to lying about where he went to high school, went to college, where he worked on Wall Street and about his family heritage. The openly gay congressman also directly addressed the drag performance in Brazil.

“I was young and I had fun at the festival – sue me for having a life,” he said.

Santos did not respond to any questions about House Speaker Kevin McCarthy or his two committee assignments.
